A Couple Common Pregnancy Questions

Let’s face it; the questions regarding giving birth to a baby and all that encompasses are endless. No article can begin to answer half the inquiries of expectant parents. In this article we will take a look at a couple pregnancy questions of future moms and dads.

Health should always be a concern. For a pregnant woman, good health is paramount if she is to cope with the many changes that occur over the 40 week period or longer, and provide a good foundation for her child as well.

What should a woman do to make sure she gets the vitamins and nutrients she will need?

Prenatal vitamins, which are specially formulated multivitamins, should fill any nutritional gaps created by a deficient diet. These supplements contain iron, folic acid and calcium, which are all vital while pregnant.

Iron will help the blood of both mother and child carry needed oxygen. Iron can also be taken in through the foods a mother eats, but the supplements will cover any shortfall.

The benefits of folic acid are directed toward reducing the chances of any serious birth defects of the brain and spinal chord. Natural sources of folic acid include green leafy vegetables, bean, nuts and citric fruits.

Calcium can ensure that the mother maintains bone density. Much of the calcium in her body will be absorbed by the fetus as it develops and grows. Dairy products are rich with this element.

The second of our common pregnancy questions is what can be done to limit morning sickness? The answer will probably not be popular.

Truthfully, there is no certain cure or preventive measure for the nausea and vomiting associated with the first trimester. The options involve changing eating patterns. Alternating when and how much you eat based on the timing of the episodes of morning sickness may provide some relief. Some people recommend taking ginger, vitamin B6 and vitamin B12. If there are specific foods that bring on episodes, these should be avoided.

In short, take a look at the options and try to find one that gives at least some relief. It’s vital that a mother take precautions to remain hydrated while coping with these symptoms.
